Toxic school lunches

Parents are alarmed by the findings of a recent WJLA-TV investigation revealing that school lunches in Maryland, Washington, D.C., and Virginia contain harmful substances like pesticides and heavy metals. Notably, 23 pesticides were detected in a single strawberry cup, and all samples contained lead, which is unsafe for consumption. Research indicates that food dyes in these lunches can lead to behavioral issues such as hyperactivity and aggression. California has taken legislative action to ban certain food dyes in public schools, with lawmakers suggesting it could reduce classroom behavior problems. Allison Getty, a concerned Maryland mother, emphasizes the urgent need for oversight, stating, “This is not an issue of nutrition but an issue of public safety for our most vulnerable citizens.” Parents are urged to advocate for safer school lunches to protect their children.
