Sonoma Valley USD has expressed disappointment over the failure to reach an agreement with the Valley of the Moon Teachers Association (VMTA) during impasse mediation, now moving to the fact-finding process. The district’s leadership emphasized their commitment to bargaining in good faith, stating: “The District has worked diligently on behalf of its students and employees.” Despite reaching a contingent agreement, the Board did not approve it, leading VMTA to seek ratification without considering a counter-offer. The district believes that proceeding to fact-finding will incur unnecessary costs and negatively impact both employees and students. They are hopeful for a return to impasse mediation to resolve the remaining issues, as they are close to a resolution.
