Fort Hayes students honor military past

The Fort Hayes campus in Columbus has a rich military history dating back to the Civil War, serving as a U.S. arsenal and later as a training facility through various wars. Today, students actively engage in preserving this legacy through the Fort Hayes Historical Society, which recently unveiled a museum exhibit. Senior Jaden Lanier emphasized the importance of honoring the past, stating, “The greatest thing is that we are experiencing this today, just to know who was here before us.” Founded in 2009 by history teacher Eric East, the society fosters a sense of community among students from diverse backgrounds. The campus, which includes a career technical education school and arts-focused institutions, continues to celebrate its historical significance while educating future generations.
