Tragedy strikes in Nigeria as 17 students perish in fire

In a devastating incident in Zamfara State, Nigeria, at least 17 students aged between seven and 17 died in a fire at an Islamic school in Kauran Namoda town. The blaze, which also left around 12 others hospitalized with severe burns, reportedly started in a nearby house before spreading to the school. Hussaini Adamu, a parent who lost two children in the tragedy, recounted the harrowing event, stating, “the fire started in a nearby house and spread to the Islamic school.” Police spokesperson Yazid Abubakar confirmed that an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire.
