Parents prefer electric school buses

According to a recent survey by Highland Electric Fleets, 65% of U.S. parents prefer electric school buses over diesel ones. The survey highlights that parents are increasingly concerned about their children’s health, with 89% prioritizing air quality and safe commutes. Sue Gander, Director of the World Resources Institute’s Electric School Bus Initiative, stated: “As this survey underscores, parents increasingly recognize that electric school buses are not just a transportation upgrade—they’re a commitment to their children’s health and well-being.” However, 35% of parents still favor fossil fuel buses due to cost concerns, with 34% willing to reconsider if electric buses prove to be cost-effective. The survey also found that 63% of parents believe their child would be happier on an electric bus, and 70% think it could reduce pediatric asthma rates.
