Baltimore County Public Schools seeks budget boost

Baltimore County Public Schools Superintendent Myriam Rogers has proposed a total operating budget of $2.98bn to the school board, which includes a request for a 6.5% increase compared to the previous year. This significant budget proposal aims to enhance educational resources and support for students. The school board is now reviewing the budget, which would provide an increase of $126.4m in funding for the district. The largest component of the budget proposal is $81.4m for increased compensation and benefits for the district’s staff. The budget also proposes $26.3m in cuts for fiscal 2026, with a little less than half of those coming from a net reduction in positions. Next month, the board will have the opportunity to approve the budget, at which point it will go to the Baltimore County Council and County Executive Kathy Klausmeier for final approval in May.
